Art made through passion
Painter Henri Matisse has inspired millions today. Amidst all of Henri Matisse’s paintings, the one that turned out to be very famous was the “Dance“. This painting was not like any other that he had ever presented in his years of painting as it aroused the attention of many. The painting was as unique as it compiled a mixture of physical cessation and joy.
Matisse’s paintings were primarily based on life with an easily recognizable setting. He obtained a very vital commission in 1909. An exceptionally wealthy Russian (Sergei Schchukin) requested the painter to decorate his spiral staircase with three large canvases in his mansion.
Painter Henri Matisse came up with these paintings that remained to mark history in his life of painting later named the “Dance”. He used three primary colors in his drawings, red, green, and blue. The use of these primary colors carries much significance, as the choice to use them was purposeful. This was also among the paintings that left many in awe due to the style he chose and how he presented his characters.
“The Dance”
The painting brought confusion at first due to the nudity and the general nature of the presentation. “The Dance” by painter Henri Matisse was later appreciated.
Matisse still developed a feeling of movement and space within the Dance despite his simplicity in presenting his work. How the dancers’ bodies moved in a rounded shape, forming earth seemed to result from inspiration from charged rhythmical bodies. The dancers seem to be in a daydream, taken so far with the rhythms emanating from the song that they fail to be aware of the external stimuli.
Henri Matisse’s style of painting does not follow the standard rules that are established for this particular art. In his painting, he ignores many of the rules but instead uses a distilled style related to the essence of the painting. He ensures that the painting has harmony and order that it deserves only according to his preferences.
